Capsicum, a smoky vegetables which enhance taste and aroma of any dish. I love to give a try of any dish which is made with capsicum. My blogger friend who are south Indian or love to cook South India food they must have heard about a dish named as capsicum rice.Even i learnt this but did some variation this time and dish came out very well.


Cooked Rice - 2 cups ( Rice should be cooked in 1:2 measurement)
Chopped capsicum - 1 1/2 cups ( I have used tri- color capsicum i.e. red yellow and green)
Oil - 2-3 tsp
Mustered seeds - 1 tsp
Bay Leaf - 1
Cinnamon - 1 inch
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Groundnut - 1/4 cup
Dry Chilli - 7-8 (or as per taste)
Salt - to taste
curry leaves - 10
Coriander seeds - 2 tbs
Asafetida powder - 1/2 tsp
Broken black gram Dal - 1 tsp
Green peas - 1/2 cup


  • Heat a pan with half spoon of oil and roast 5 chilies, ground nut  and coriander seeds.
  • Grind it and make a coarsely powder with cinnamon and cumin seeds.
  • Heat oil in another pan.
  • Add mustered and broken black gram dal.
  • Wait till mustered crack then add curry leaves, bay leaf, and 2 broken dry chilli.
  • Add asafetida powder.
  • Put chopped capsicum, green peas with little salt and fry till it is thunder and give you smoky flavor.
  • Once capsicum done, add rice and made powder and mix well.
  • Add salt and cook in medium heat for 5 min.
  • Serve hot with raitha.


  • We can also add small onion ( smaber onion) to enhance the taste.
  • Dry nuts can be added to make it crunchy.
