CHANDRAKANTI ( A dessert from the kitchen of Orissa & Andhra)

As i said that the motivation by my husband is on peak and i thought of rewriting my blog again. Today the recipe i am going to share with you is known as Chandrakanti in Oriya & Andhra. Very easy to make and less ingredients. I is a sweet which is made out of the things which are easily available at home. So look at this:-

Preparation time- 15 minute
Soaking time- 2 hrs
Cooking time- 40 minutes

Green gram Dal ( Moong dal) - 1 cup
Sugar- 2- 2 1/2 cup
cardamom powder- 1 spoon
Oil- for deep frying
salt- a pinch

  • Soak dal about 2 hrs.
  • drain water and grind to fine paste with adding water.
  • now measure this paste in a cup
  • after measuring paste mix sugar in the paste exactly 1: 1 ratio that means if paste is 2 cup then add sugar also 2 cups.
  • mix well this.
  • now in a heavy bottom vessels, pour the whole paste and cook this on medium flame till it becomes very thick paste.
  • Meanwhile grease a plate and keep ready.
  • Once the paste has become thicken enough then pour this in greased plate.
  • level it like you have to cut down medium size of cake from this.
  • Once it is cooled cut down this in the shape of square.
  • Heat oil in a kadai and deep fry them in medium flame.
